Science Illustration: A History of Visual Knowledge from the 15th Century to Today

$65

From the first detailed drawing of the moon to the depiction of stem cells, this collection of scientific illustrations traces the visual history of knowledge from the 15th century to today. Some 300 milestones in all fields of science chronicle humanity’s great discoveries through the work of those who studied and documented them.

Anna Escardó studied literature theory and comparative literature, as well as mechanical engineering. This double academic training has led her to a constant search for bridges between the sciences and the humanities. A member of both the Catalan and Spanish Associations of Scientific Communication, she is head of communication for the Col·legi Oficial de Disseny Gràfic de Catalunya and works to provide content for scientific and cultural institutions and companies.

Julius Wiedemann studied graphic design and marketing and was an art editor for newspapers and design magazines in Tokyo before joining TASCHEN in 2001. His titles include the Illustration Now! and Record Covers series, as well as the infographics collection and books about advertising and visual culture.
