Hesperios

History & Timeline

Origins

The ancient Greeks called that part of the horizon where the sun rose, Eos, and where it set, Hesperios, “the evening star.”

History

Hesperios launched in spring 2016. This was followed by the publication of the first issue of Hesperios Journal, later that same year. The Hesperios flagship boutique was open from February 2018 to March 2020 in SoHo, New York City. A new phase of Hesperios began in the spring of 2020 with the formation of Hesperios Library Foundation (HLF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Timeline

2021

This year, we are returning to Hesperios’s roots in design, and while we are expanding our range of artist limited-editions, we are still keeping the collections small. We will no longer work from within the fashion system, choosing instead to prioritize the green foundations of our organization. All new developments, products, and services will aim to solve a problem, serve a purpose, and align with the mission of our non-profit arm, Hesperios Library Foundation. A new direction for Hesperios Journal also begins. These are our first steps on our journey to become a certified benefit corporation.

2020

A new phase of Hesperios began in the spring of 2020 with the formation of Hesperios Library Foundation (HLF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. To date, Hesperios has released nine collections and published three issues of Hesperios Journal. In August 2020, we moved our SoHo location to a brownstone in Hamilton Heights, Harlem. This location now houses both Hesperios and Hesperios Library Foundation. We are much happier as a team being closer to the trees and the Met Cloisters.
