Origins of Materials

The Alpaca

Compared to other wool sources—such as sheep or goat—the alpaca is much more environmentally friendly. They do not destroy the root system of plants while grazing (less environmental degradation); they require less food and water; and alpaca fiber does not contain lanolin or grease, hence bypassing the necessity for intensive chemicals or detergents. Sourced from cruelty-free, free-range, and eco-friendly farms in the animals’ native environment—the Andean highlands of Peru—our alpaca wool is an ideal material for products that will last more than a lifetime.

Baby Alpaca

Derived from the adult alpaca animal, “baby alpaca” refers to the grading of the fineness of the thread, not the animal’s age. Alpaca wool is soft, silky, lustrous, breathable, insulating, and hypoallergenic. Once the yarn has been spun, we then custom dye at one of our ecologically responsible mills. By using both traditional and contemporary knitting techniques, we ensure the final product has a unique texture and detail.
