Rossiya

The largest swath of taiga is found in Russia. A biome that exists all around the Arctic Circle, taigas are characterized by a layer of permafrost, a just-submerged crust of frozen soil that never melts. The soil is relatively nutrient poor, and only specially adapted plants can thrive. It is, therefore, all the more surprising that the Russian taiga is home to the Siberian tiger which, at up to 660 pounds, is the largest of the world’s great cats.
